YOU'RE THE CEO OF YOUR COMPANY.
Are you thinking like one?
I always believed that once I reached my target income as a freelance editor, I would be able to relax, travel, and enjoy more free time. Nope—instead, I found myself drowning in client projects and the day-to-day of running a freelance business.
I began to dread facing another day of barely keeping my head above water. I constantly promised myself that I would take time off to work on my business (rather than being stuck in it all the time), but then I would inevitably end up taking on more work instead.
On the outside, I was running a successful company. I had happy clients who were publishing their best books. I was financially stable. But on the inside, I was miserable.
That’s when I discovered that changing my mindset was the key to unlocking my untapped potential. When I finally stopped thinking like an employee, I wasn’t frustrated anymore. I felt in control of my own life. I could make decisions quickly because I knew what I wanted, and I wasn’t afraid to grab it. I was finally able to let go and trust others to help with the tasks that were outside my Zone of Genius.
Adopting a CEO mindset helped me rediscover my spark—you can, too.
Are You Running Your Freelance Editorial Business, or Is It Running You?
Here's a quick test to gauge how you're feeling about your freelance life at the moment. If you are...
- Stuck in the day-to-day minutiae of running your business
- Overwhelmed by everything on your plate, from client work to marketing
- Not outsourcing the tasks that take you out of your Zone of Genius
- Feeling isolated and lonely
- Just doing your best to get through each day, rather than focusing on projects that will move your business forward
- Viewing your business as your whole source of identity
- Doubting your decisions, wondering if you’re “worth it,” and negatively comparing yourself to every other freelancer out there...
No wonder your business feels like it’s running you, instead of the other way around!

The Freelance Life of Your Dreams Begins Today
You created your business because you had a big, daring dream. A vision. (And hopefully you still do!)
But then something happened: You started to (try to!) bring that vision to fruition and discovered it’s not as easy as you thought.
Maybe you began pouring all your time and energy into social media marketing because another freelance editor swore it worked for them, but you didn’t see a single sale.
Maybe you tried to outsource once or twice, but didn’t love the results and decided, “Forget it. It's easier to do it myself.”
Helming a business isn’t easy. In fact, it will force you to face every negative thought, belief, and worry you’ve ever had about yourself and your abilities.
It will push you to your edge, making you question your every move and if you’re doing it “right.”
Running a business can break you down…if you let it.
The good news is, you can change all that—with a little help. You're in the right place.
